Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) fired back at Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) for his “harsh dunk attempt” on the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
Fetterman, a vocal defender of Israel, posted a screenshot of Monday's Hill article in which Ocasio-Cortez criticized the Biden administration over the “unrestrained” Israeli government.
“This tragedy in Gaza is 100 percent Hamas' fault.” Posted by Fetterman “Stop using civilians and hospitals as shields, surrender, and release all remaining hostages. And this is it.”
ocasio-cortez answered Fetterman In her own post.
“I don't know. I worry about young children dying. I care about human rights. I don't want weapons worth billions of American tax dollars to commit unspeakable atrocities. “I'm concerned about what's going on,” she replied. “We are very careful to make sure we do better.”
“I hope this tough dunk attempt gets you whatever you're aiming for,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
On Monday, the New York Democratic Party said the unfolding devastation in Gaza is the result of a “totally unrestrained Netanyahu” regime, which the Biden administration is weaponizing.
“This is a genocide of Palestinians,” she said, adding that the US must stop “enabling” it.
The war between Israel and Hamas has highlighted divisions within Congressional Democrats.
Mr. Fetterman strongly supports Israel's mission to eliminate Hamas and has called for the release of the remaining hostages. As the civilian death toll in the Gaza Strip continues to rise, progressives like Ocasio-Cortez have begun demanding that the United States stop injecting cash into Israel.
