At a recent event in Queens, New York, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez found herself facing intense backlash from Palestinian protestors. They labeled her a “war criminal,” voicing accusations of her support for Israeli military actions in Gaza. This disruption unfolded as Ocasio-Cortez was speaking at a town hall meeting.
One protestor, identified as Jennifer Kings, expressed her disdain, questioning, “Do you realize that Gaza isn’t even on the agenda??? Shame on these fascists.”
As the protestors yelled accusations and attempted to drown out Ocasio-Cortez’s voice, she was escorted from the event, repeatedly stating, “Your shame! I was supporting you!”
Addressing the interruption, Ocasio-Cortez remarked, “I welcome people who are opposed to me or very upset because all the issues come, but there are some basic rules here. Wait for the Q&A because we have important information for all our neighbors and don’t want to take away the ability to hear them respond.”
The video of the incident gained significant traction on social media, further fueling discussions on the matter.
Kings later criticized the disruption on her Instagram, which boasts over 53,000 followers, reiterating her frustration.
In a separate context, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended military actions in Gaza, asserting that Israel is engaged in a justified conflict against Hamas, which he claimed had killed 1,200 innocent people on October 7.
Ocasio-Cortez’s current term is set to conclude in January 2027, and there’s speculation about her potential candidacy for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination.
