Missouri Woman Recognized as Wanted While Complaining at City Council Meeting

A woman from Missouri voiced her complaints about the police during a city council meeting, unaware that she was recognized by law enforcement as a wanted person for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend.

Major Steve Runge of the Berkeley Police Department reported that Jamecia Moore was seen speaking at the council meeting on January 12th. Runge described his reaction as one of disbelief, saying, “Are you kidding me? That’s my reaction.” He had been trying to talk to her for, well, around two months, but she had declined to engage.

In a moment captured on video, Runge, sitting at the back, quickly recognized Moore and sent a message to officers indicating they should arrest her.

Adding a touch of irony, he remarked, “Looks like you’re wanted by the police, young lady!” He later directed officers to apprehend her in a hallway to maintain the meeting’s decorum.

Moore was reportedly at the meeting seeking assistance after being charged with domestic assault and armed criminal action due to an incident in October 2025. Allegedly, she became furious over her boyfriend’s mention of another woman and stabbed him in the arm with a butcher knife. Interestingly, she was recorded saying, “I’m glad you didn’t stab him in the chest.”

Three weeks post-incident, an unrelated event took place in Japan involving Moore, who was reported to have brandished a baseball bat.

St. Louis County Prosecutor Melissa Price-Smith stated she’d never witnessed something quite like Moore’s arrest, expressing gratitude towards the Berkeley Police Department for their diligence and attention to detail.

“It’s surprising that she appeared before the Berkeley City Council two months later regarding a completely different matter,” she added. Major Runge echoed this sentiment, saying, “You can run, but you can’t hide.”

Moore’s bail was set at $100,000.
