During a high school baseball game, for the first time in baseball history, an 8U was recorded at home plate on the scorecard.
In an Ohio Division game, Marion Local center fielder Griffin Barnes chased a runner around the bases before getting him out at home — a sight that had to be seen to be believed.
This bizarre series of events began when Fort Recovery hitter Caden Grisez hit a pop fly into the Bermuda Triangle in shallow center field.

Something strange happened at a high school baseball game in Ohio on Friday.
No one could catch it, and thanks to a desperate effort and no one covering second base initially, Grisez homered with a stand-up double.
The Marian Local third baseman tried to cover second base, but it was too late. Third base was open, and Grisez ran to third and was safe.
Here’s where things get interesting: The catcher tried to cover the bases to stop Grisez from reaching third base safely.
Of course, that left home plate open, so Grisez went for an inside-the-park home run.

New Jersey state tournament game ends in uproar after umpire makes controversial call on tying home run
All of this happened while center Barnes had the ball and was chasing it, finally catching up to Grisez at home and getting him out with a bang-bang play.
Barnes deserves credit for his efforts, because he fought when his team was down 11-3 in the sixth inning (high school games are seven innings), but Grisez wanted the credit.
“What about a runner’s IQ?” he joked. Post to X.
