Ohio Lieutenant Governor Jim Tressel promoted diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) several years ago, while serving as president of Youngstown State University.
Youngstown State University's newly appointed lieutenant governor and former president Tressel is rumoured to run for governor against key candidates such as Vivek Ramaswamy.
All over the country, lawmakers and the Trump administration believe it is a discriminatory practice.

Under Tressel's leadership, Youngstown State University Created The Department of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion directs Bennett to develop a strategic plan for the office.
In April 2021, Tressel said, “The term means “uniformity of diversity.” Young people are away from cultural backgrounds, but they are somewhat limited and have the opportunity to come to universities where people come from many different directions and create that unity in diversity. ”
