Ohio State women’s basketball coach Kevin McGuff taken into custody for driving under the influence

Ohio State Coach Arrested for Alleged Drunk Driving

A female college basketball coach was recently arrested, allegedly for being intoxicated while operating a vehicle. This incident took place after police noticed a vehicle parked in a yard and detected the smell of alcohol.

Kevin McGuff, the head coach of Ohio State, reportedly struggled to open the car’s windows and doors for over two minutes before denying having taken any substances that might impair his ability. According to a police report cited by local news sources, when asked to recite the letters “D” and “R,” he reportedly failed to respond after saying “D.”

In response to the situation, the university stated they are keeping in touch with Coach McGuff to evaluate the ongoing legal issue, indicating that they would provide further updates at an appropriate time. Ohio State’s statement reflected their awareness of the situation but did not go into detail.

Prior to his arrest, McGuff had called the police himself, claiming he was driving someone who was operating the vehicle recklessly. He described erratic driving behavior, stating that the car had hit curbs and even gone through a garden.

When confronted by officers, McGuff mentioned he had just dined at a restaurant, stating simply “dinner.”

Since taking the role at Ohio State in 2013, McGuff has led the team to a respectable 224-109 record and has previously coached at Washington and Xavier, leading teams to eight NCAA tournaments over his career.
