Oilers wallop Panthers to stay alive in Stanley Cup

EDMONTON, Alberta — Connor McDavid scored his first goal in a Stanley Cup Final and scored four points as the Edmonton Oilers dominated the Florida Panthers 8-1 in Game 4 on Saturday night to avoid a sweep.

The Oilers scored five goals on their first 16 shots early in the second period, putting playoff MVP candidate goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky under pressure.

McDavid recorded three assists, giving him 32 career assists, passing Wayne Gretzky for the most in a postseason career.

Edmonton fired up an already-electrified crowd with a shorthanded goal from Mattias Janmark three minutes into the game, then went on a 5-on-3 run to end a streak of 12 straight power play attempts without a goal this series.
