The principal of an elementary school in Oklahoma, who also had a career as a drag queen and was indicted on child pornography charges, has resigned, education officials announced this week.
Dr. Shane Murnane, who appeared as a drag queen named “Chantelle Mandalay,” served as principal at John Glenn Elementary School in Oklahoma City after being hired in June 2023. fox 25 report.
Shortly after he was hired, the Western Heights School District announced that it was “aware of previous charges that were dismissed more than 20 years ago.”
Mahnane was involved in allegations of drag queen activities by the popular TikTok social media account Libs in September 2023.
Oklahoma State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters praised the social media accounts that outed him but called for him to resign.
“Drag queens are out in Western Heights. “I’ve been asking for it since day one,” Walters said in a video posted to X on Friday, adding, “This is what parents want for their kids. It’s not,” he said.
“Western Heights’ problems continue. What’s going on with their hiring practices?” Walters asked. “Here in the state of Oklahoma, it is not acceptable to have drag queens in the classroom.”
News outlets reported that Murnane was reading children’s books during story time. on June 15, 2021 at the Metropolitan Library System.
Library officials said organizers conducted a background check on Murnane ahead of the event.
