Oklahoma Parents Charged with Murder Following Daughter’s Tragic Death

In Oklahoma, a father and mother are now facing serious murder charges that could lead to life imprisonment after the death of their 2-year-old daughter, who was tragically attacked by a dog.

Lochlyn Rose McGuire, the little girl of 24-year-old Darcy Lambert and 34-year-old Jorden McGuire, lost her life on November 18 in their home in Oklahoma City. Officials reported she was, unfortunately, run over by one of the family’s four dogs.

Oklahoma City police arrived at the couple’s residence after a call about a child not breathing. Upon entering, they found Lochlyn with “severe injuries” indicative of an animal attack.

Investigation revealed that Lochlyn might have been previously attacked by the same dog, which had left her with non-fatal injuries earlier on, as per the District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities removed four dogs from the home, with three of them suspected to be malnourished. They also took two bearded dragons from the scene.

According to Sergeant Dillon Quirk, the police team discovered that the child had been left alone in the room with the dogs for a concerning length of time before she was found.

Initially, Lambert and McGuire faced second-degree murder charges, but these were escalated to first-degree murder and two counts of animal cruelty as investigators uncovered the distressing details surrounding the incident.

It was further alleged that the couple “maliciously failed to protect the child” by leaving her in the company of a dangerous, malnourished dog.

Lochlyn was publicly named as their daughter through a GoFundMe campaign set up by family members.

In a touching note, a cousin described her as “a pure light” who was filled with curiosity and kindness, bringing joy to everyone around her. The family expressed immense sorrow over losing her in such a heartbreaking way.

If convicted of first-degree murder, Lambert and McGuire could potentially face life in prison. The state also maintains the option of the death penalty for some first-degree murder cases, contingent on the state’s discretion.

The couple is currently held on a bail amount of $1 million.
