A reported 100-vehicle protest rally took place outside a high school in Edmond, Oklahoma on Monday after students were told they couldn't fly the American flag.

An EPS spokesperson said in order to prevent distractions and create a safe environment, students are not permitted to fly or bring flags of any kind on campus.

Caleb Holst, senior said KOCO reported Thursday that he was told Wednesday he wouldn't be allowed to fly an American flag on the back of his truck.
“It's never been an issue and it's a First Amendment, so it's hard for them to infringe on our rights,” he told the media.
“At the end of the day, we are all Americans and we are all united under our flag and nothing can separate us,” he added.
In a video posted Monday, Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters said: Hit He repealed the rule, saying, “Oklahoma schools should not be telling students they can't wave the American flag.”
Americans died for our flag. They died so that students could have the right to carry it, wave it, and be proud of it. My department is currently working on guidelines to be issued to school districts to ensure that students are not targeted for carrying an American flag. We also want schools to promote patriotism. We want young people to be patriotic and love our country. And we will continue to help them understand American history and our country to the fullest extent possible, and be proud of our country.

In a post on Thursday, Walters wrote: attention “EPS has a history of prioritizing the woke agenda over our history and our freedoms. We will investigate and I will act.”

The Facebook group that organized the rally said the purpose of the rally was to highlight patriotism and the meaning of the American flag, Fox 25 reported.

He is also an Army veteran. Showing A supporter of the protest told KOCO he hopes others will join the group of young people in standing up for them, and that he doesn't think the flag should be limited to rules and what is and isn't allowed on campus.
“The American flag is an exception because we fought for it,” he said.
The media outlet reported that EPS said it displays the American flag appropriately and respectfully outside school buildings and in classrooms.
