Olympic Village vendor slams claim athletes found worms in their food at 2024 Paris Games

A catering company hired to feed thousands of world-class athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympics has slammed reports that parasites have been found in their meals.

Earlier this week, Britain’s silver medal-winning swimmer Adam Peaty claimed several athletes had found parasites in their fish dishes, adding that the standard of food in the Olympic Village was “wholly inadequate”.

Now, a committee representing Sodexo Live!, the food vendor at this year’s Olympics, says Peaty’s claims are “completely without evidence.”

“There is absolutely no evidence to establish the veracity of this statement and it clearly raises quite serious doubts,” the committee said. He told TMZ Sports.

“There is absolutely no information to support this sensational claim.”

The company added that no British players had made any complaints so far about the food they were eating during their stay in the Olympic Village.

“The 550 dishes available in the dining hall have been developed over a period of more than a year in collaboration with the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and the IOC,” the Olympic Committee told the media.

“We always listen to our athletes and take their feedback seriously. Paris 2024 will continue to work closely with National Olympic Committees nutritionists and stands ready to make any further adjustments necessary to our food services.”

The Post has contacted Sodexo Live for further comment.

Peaty, who won silver in the 100m breaststroke, on Tuesday slammed organisers for promising to eliminate 60 per cent of their diet from meat in a move to promote sustainability, claiming it was merely a punishment for the athletes.

“I want to eat meat, I need meat to perform and I eat meat at home, so why should I change?” Petey, 29, told iNews.

“I like fish, but people are finding that there are worms in the fish. It’s not good enough. We’re looking at fish to the best standards in the world, but the food is not the best.”

Peaty also claimed athletes had been “caught off guard” by the difficulties of life in the Paris 2024 Athletes’ Village.
