Online Reaction Surges As Trump Critiques The Late Rob Reiner

Comments made by President Donald Trump regarding the late Rob Reiner sparked widespread discussion online on Monday.

Shortly after the actor and his wife were found dead, allegedly murdered on Sunday, Trump shared his thoughts on Truth Social. Reports indicated that their son, Nick Reiner, was taken into custody in connection with their deaths.

In his post, Trump expressed, “A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.”

The president continued, claiming, “He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”

This post prompted various reactions on social media.

Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene commented that it was a family tragedy, emphasizing that it shouldn’t involve politics. She posted, “This is a family tragedy, not about politics or political enemies.”

Piers Morgan also weighed in, expressing disapproval: “This is a dreadful thing to say about a man who just got murdered by his troubled son. Delete it, Mr. President.”

Maria Shriver, a friend of the Reiners, criticized Trump’s remarks as lacking decency. She mentioned on X, “I try to rise above the noise all the time, but this individual has no human decency. This goes beyond. It’s absolutely disgusting. We should all be horrified and disgusted by this inhumane behavior, because that’s what it is.” She further lamented, “What kind of human being would share a statement like this, much less a president?”

While Trump faced significant backlash, some voices defended his comments. George Santos expressed his agreement, stating, “All of you saying @POTUS should delete this are tone deaf! Are these words nice and fuzzy? No. But this man has been almost killed because of the rhetoric that people like Rob Reiner have spewed.”

Santos continued, asserting that Reiner would have been among those celebrating if it were someone else who had faced violence. “Many mocked POTUS when he was shot at in Butler,” he noted.

Political strategist Walter Curt also showed support for Trump’s statement, paraphrasing it in a tweet to highlight its sentiment: “May God bless my enemies, because I f***ing won’t.”
