According to opinion polls, the 81-year-old Biden has an approval rating of 41% and a low disapproval rating of 55%.

Meanwhile, Trump, 77, is the only one of the three polls with a higher disapproval rating (49% to 47%, respectively).

The survey of 1,000 registered voters conducted from March 8 to March 11 found that Biden, the oldest president in U.S. history, doubts Harris’ ability to lead the country if he is forced to step down. It turns out that the majority of people feel that

Only 38% of respondents said Harris was qualified to serve as president, while 54% said she was not qualified.

Those who don’t believe Harris can lead the country include 92% of Republicans, 56% of independents, 37% of African Americans, and 48% of Hispanics.

Unsurprisingly, Ms. Harris’ highest ratings came from Democrats, with 76% of them approving of her job as vice president, 8 points higher than Mr. Biden’s approval rating among members of her own party. Inferior.

“As I say, she’s Queen Kamala when it comes to the Democratic Party,” David Paleologos, director of the Center for Political Research at Suffolk University, said of the survey results. “Independents, you know, she’s a great fit for Kamala. Among Republicans, she’s Kamala the court jester.”

Paleologos noted that in a presidential election year, talk about the vice president is often “secondary and subdued.”

But in 2024, the pollster says, “by comparison, we will see a near-parallel debate.”
