Only a third of Americans think Trump acted illegally in New York case: Poll

A new poll conducted by AP-NORC Only one-third of Americans believe former President Donald Trump acted illegally in connection with the ongoing New York case over allegations of falsifying business records, a new study revealed.

The poll, released Tuesday, surveyed 1,204 adults in April through phone and online interviews. Respondents were asked a series of questions about the four criminal cases filed against Trump.

If Trump is found guilty in this case, 50% of respondents believe he is no longer fit to be president, including 82% of Democrats, 47% of Independents, and 15% of Republicans. The answer was that it was not considered.

When asked how Trump was being treated in the case, 44% said they were “not very or not at all confident” that New York state prosecutors were treating Trump fairly.
