Meta’s Recruitment Efforts Target OpenAI Employees
Reports have emerged that Meta is attempting to lure employees away from rival OpenAI by offering a substantial $100 million bonus to potential recruits.
According to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, during a podcast hosted by his brother, “Meta has begun to make huge offers to many of our team,” referring to the annual compensation being pitched.
It seems Meta’s push to attract OpenAI talent is part of a broader strategy to enhance its artificial intelligence capabilities and create urgency units that could exceed human performance levels, as noted by Reuters.
Altman mentioned that the “best people” at OpenAI have resisted Meta’s advances in the past.
The competition for AI talent has intensified dramatically, with some industry observers suggesting that a single hire can significantly influence a company’s trajectory.
Altman also acknowledged that Meta perceives OpenAI as a major competitor.
Earlier in the month, it was reported that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is assembling a dedicated team of around 50 AI researchers and engineers, personally overseeing much of the hiring process.
This talent acquisition initiative follows Zuckerberg’s announcement of a planned investment of $65 billion in AI by 2025, which includes developing a large data center.
As of now, Meta has not provided any comments regarding these recruitment efforts.
