Oprah Winfrey hosted a rally in Michigan on Thursday in an attempt to bring some excitement to Kamala Harris' campaign, with help from wealthy Hollywood script readers, Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and identity-based advocacy groups.
After Winfrey spent roughly 25 minutes trying to convince voters that there was a real “grassroots movement” behind Harris and that the vice president inspires “a real sense of optimism and hope,” Harris took to the stage to answer a few simple questions.
The propaganda-style Q&A was designed to help Harris, but her poor answers, filled with platitudes, demonstrated once again her inability, even in amicable forums, to offer viable solutions to the problems she created and exacerbated as vice president.
At one point, a member of the audience asked Harris a question. Harris replied:
Tens of millions of illegal immigrants As the Emperor of the Borders be criticized Regarding the border wall, if elected president, would you take “concrete steps to strengthen our border”?
“I take very seriously the importance of ensuring border security.”
“That's a great question and an important question,” Harris said. “I have a background as a prosecutor, as you know, and I was elected two terms as attorney general of a border state, so this is not a theoretical question for me. This is something I've worked on in practice.”
“I take very seriously the importance of securing our border and keeping the American people safe,” Harris continued.
Aaron Heitke, the recently retired Border Patrol chief for the San Diego sector, on Wednesday questioned Harris' commitment to keeping Americans safe. tell Members of the House Homeland Security Committee accused the Biden-Harris administration of concealing information about illegal immigration with ties to terrorism from the American public as part of an effort to “de-escalate the crisis across the border.”
“The administration was trying to convince the public that there was no threat on the border,” Heitke said.
The department director noted that the Biden-Harris administration's policies had allowed countless high-risk foreign nationals to enter the country, leaving the border effectively unguarded in many high-traffic areas “for weeks or even months.”
“They're bringing criminals into our country. They're bringing them into our small towns and our people are dying,” Rachel Maurin's mother, Patty Maurin, said at the same hearing, The Blaze News previously reported.
Rachel Morin was brutally raped and murdered by the suspect, an illegal immigrant who fled El Salvador for the United States after murdering the young woman last year.
Harris' rambling, three-minute response ended with criticism of Republicans' failure to pass Democrats' so-called bipartisan border bill, which would not have remedied the party's illegal immigration crisis but could be largely solved by executive branch action.
Winfrey seemed eager to help provide some answers to questions about how Harris would handle the crisis she has overseen.
“So to answer Justin's question, now that this bill has died and has not been passed, you…” Winfrey said, at which point she was interrupted by the vice president.
“Absolutely,” Harris said, “If I'm elected president of the United States, I'll see to it that this bill gets to my desk and I'll sign it into law.”

Highlight Harris offered no additional policy proposals beyond those lawmakers had already rejected.
In one of the interview's most brazen moments of pandering, Harris tried to portray herself as a Second Amendment supporter with the power to shoot intruders.
“I'm a gun owner too.”
said “If anybody breaks into my house, I'll shoot them,” Harris said.
“Some people are really arguing for a false choice, suggesting that you either support the Second Amendment or you want to take away everyone's guns,” Harris said. “I support the Second Amendment, and I also support banning assault weapons, universal background checks and red flag laws.”
Earlier, a video resurfaced of Harris threatening to raid the homes of law-abiding Americans and conduct random gun checks.
In the footage taken in 2007, San Francisco press conference“Just because you legally own a gun in the sanctity of your locked home does not mean we won't enter your home and make sure you are acting responsibly and safely,” Harris said.
It's common for politicians to change positions on issues like immigration and fracking, as Harris has done since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race, but the vice president recently Revealed She told CNN that her “values have not changed.”
At Oprah's rally, the gun-toting rookie Border Patrol agent continued his efforts to smear his opponent, who has been the target of two assassination attempts, and spoke vaguely of national unity, even as a recent survey found that nearly one in three Democrats said they would have preferred if Trump had been killed.
Harris said:
Now is the time when we can and must come together as Americans, realizing that we have far more in common than what divides us. Let us come together with the character we are so proud of: we are an optimistic people. We are an optimistic people. Americans are characterised by dreams, ambition and aspiration, by believing that things are possible, by believing that they can be achieved, and by believing that we will fight for them. That is what we were born to do.
