Former President Donald Trump told Breitbart News exclusively that he thinks Oprah Winfrey is “embarrassed” by Vice President Kamala Harris' lack of preparation on key issues, which was evident during her interview and event with Harris on Thursday.
“She couldn't answer anything, Oprah“Oprah was so embarrassed she wanted to crawl under the table,” Trump said of Harris in an interview with Breitbart News on Sunday afternoon.
During a town hall event with Winfrey, several criticized Harris for failing to answer basic questions, such as how she would lower prices if elected president.
“We'd love to know what your plans are to lower the cost of living,” one couple asked Harris during the event, to which he rambled on and on without offering any specifics.
it is, The Oprah Winfrey Show Harris appears to be in big trouble.
Trump told Breitbart News that he “knows” Winfrey better than he knows Harris because they knew each other long before Trump entered politics.
“I know Oprah better than she does because before I got into politics, Oprah and I had a great relationship,” Trump said. “She came to Mar-a-Lago many times.”
But Trump said he no longer speaks to Winfrey “because of politics.”
“Politics can turn former friends against one another,” Trump said, “but Oprah has had many big events at Mar-a-Lago, the biggest being Roger King's funeral at King World. King was a wonderful man. That was arranged by Oprah, and he said, 'This is the most beautiful place. Can I have his funeral here?' You know, Roger King was in charge of Oprah.”
Trump is absolutely correct that the funeral of Winfrey's benefactor, King, was held at Mar-a-Lago and attended by Winfrey. News coverage From that time.
Trump's relationship with Winfrey goes back decades – in fact, Trump first openly hinted at the possibility of a future presidential run on her show in the late 1980s.
Trump too said In 1999, when Larry King was considering a run for president, he said he would have first considered Winfrey as his running mate.
“Oprah. I love Oprah. Oprah would always be my first choice,” Trump said at the time when asked who he would choose as his running mate. “If she did it, that would be great. She's popular, she's smart, she's a great woman. I don't know if she'll do it, but she's, you know, kind of like me.”
Winfrey, of course, is now a partisan Democrat and attended the Democratic National Convention (DNC) to support Harris when she swooped in to win the 2024 presidential nomination after former President Joe Biden's gaffe during a debate with President Trump in June. She then hosted the event with Harris, which in everyone's eyes was a disaster for Harris' campaign, as Harris demonstrated to viewers her inability to articulate a coherent policy vision for the country.
More details about Trump's latest interview with Breitbart News will be released soon.
