Oregon man saved by his dog who ran miles for help

What a good dog!

A loyal dog saved his owner’s life by running miles to guide other dogs to the scene of a horrific car crash in Oregon.

In a June 3 Facebook post, the Baker County Sheriff’s Office said deputies learned of the accident Monday morning. Authorities received a report of “a vehicle going over an embankment on U.S. Forest Service Road 39.”

“The caller stated his brother, Brandon Garrett, did not arrive at the campsite yesterday afternoon. Family members found his vehicle this morning but were unable to reach it due to the terrain,” the post states.

“One of his dogs walked approximately four miles to the campsite, alerting other members of the group that something was wrong,” officials added.

Shocking pictures showed the truck overturned in the middle of a rocky creek, with authorities using an aerial rope system to rescue the victims.

“Members of the Baker County Search and Rescue Rope Team prepared rescue equipment and began the arduous task of reaching Mr. Garrett,” the post read. “Once the team was able to reach Mr. Garrett, they placed him in a rescue basket and secured him.”

“Mr. Garrett was attached to a high-elevation rope, pulled across the ravine and transferred to a group of search and rescue personnel and medical personnel,” the sheriff’s office added. “Mr. Garrett was transported by Halfway Ambulance to a rescue helicopter, from where he was airlifted to an area hospital.”

An investigation revealed that Garrett was driving with his four dogs when “he failed to negotiate a curve and his vehicle went down an embankment.”

“Garrett was able to crawl approximately 100 yards from the vehicle and spent the night there,” the Facebook post said. “The remaining members of the search team continued and the vehicle was found by family members on the morning of June 3rd.”

“The remaining three dogs were found alive at the scene of the accident.”

Fox News Digital reached out to local authorities to inquire about the dog photos but did not receive a response.

Locals took to the Facebook comments section to praise the rescue workers, and applaud the dogs as well.

“Amazing. Thank goodness for this result. Someone give that dog a bone. He saved his owner,” commented another.
