Oregon officials rescue 30 riders trapped upside-down at amusement park

An amusement park ride in Oregon malfunctioned, leaving a visitor hanging upside down on Friday.

Announced by Portland Fire Rescue X Post They were called to the scene in Oaks Park on Friday evening after the Atmosphere, a rotating pendulum ride, had malfunctioned.

The ride malfunction occurred on the park’s first day of opening for the summer.

Officials said about 30 people were trapped upside down until help arrived.

Park engineers worked with fire officials to “manually dismount” the overturned vehicle, the department said.

A fire service spokesman said the passengers had been evacuated and were being medically evaluated.

“The vehicle has been manually de-boarded and all passengers have been evacuated and are undergoing medical examination,” officials said.

Fire officials previously said no serious injuries were reported. The cause of the malfunction is currently unknown.

Officials with Oak Park did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Oaks Park is Oregon’s oldest surviving amusement park and is located just 3.5 miles from downtown Portland.

This small amusement park first opened just two days before the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition on May 30, 1905, and is one of the oldest continuously operating amusement parks in the country.
