Oregon's game-winning interception secures victory in double overtime against Penn State

Oregon’s Thrilling Double Overtime Win Against Penn State

State College, Pa. — In a gripping matchup on Saturday night, Dillon Teenman intercepted a pass from Drewalle during the second overtime, securing a 30-24 victory for No. 6 Oregon.

Jamali Johnson found the end zone in overtime, Diere Hill Jr. caught a touchdown pass, Jordan Davison also scored, and Atticus Thappington successfully kicked a field goal in this exciting regular-season game.

This victory boosted Oregon’s record to 12-0 in regular-season Big Ten play, all achieved under intense circumstances. They triumphed in a rematch of last season’s conference championship game.

The atmosphere was electric, with 111,015 mostly white-clad fans cheering for Penn State, who were desperately trying to keep the game alive.

And they almost did.

Trailing 17-10, Penn State took over with just 7:07 left. Despite only managing 189 yards in total offense up to that point, their drive culminated in a seven-yard touchdown pass from Allah to Devonte Ross, forcing the game into overtime.

Ross had earlier made a significant 35-yard reception, but it didn’t prevent Penn State from suffering its fourth consecutive loss to AP Top 10 teams since James Franklin took over as coach.

Kaytron Allen opened the overtime scoring for Penn State, but Johnson quickly matched it with his own touchdown.

Unfortunately, an interception by Allah on the next possession turned the tide for Penn State.

After a rather slow first half, Oregon found their rhythm in the third quarter. A recovery by Moore led to a pivotal moment, with a review overturning a fumble that brought momentum back to the Ducks.

Oregon seized a 10-7 lead on the ensuing play, with Moore completing an 8-yard touchdown pass to Hill, energizing the crowd.

The next sequence saw Penn State booed off the field after a dismal series that featured two incompletions and only a single yard gained.

Oregon extended their lead with a solid 10-play, 75-yard drive, capped off by Davison’s 8-yard touchdown run with 12:25 remaining.

In the stands, a chant of “Fire Franklin!” echoed following the Ducks’ success, reflecting the frustration among some fans.

However, the tide turned again when Ross broke free for a corner route, catching a 35-yard touchdown pass that tightened Oregon’s lead to 17-10.

Allah responded on Penn State’s next possession, orchestrating a 62-yard drive and connecting with Loss for another touchdown, tying the game at 17-17 with just 30 seconds to go.

The defenses for both teams had shone brightly in the first half.

Oregon’s defense effectively neutralized Penn State’s running game, limiting backs Allen and Nicholas Singleton in those opening quarters.

Penn State was forced to punt three times but managed to score a 49-yard field goal from Ryan Barker, taking a slim 3-0 lead early in the game.

On the other side, Oregon’s defense was equally tough, thwarting advanced drives and forcing missed opportunities, including a troublesome field goal attempt that left the game tied before halftime.
