Orthodox Jewish children attacked by suspect in New York City

New York City police are investigating an unprovoked attack on two Jewish children that occurred earlier this week.

Two children, ages 11 and 13, were playing on a sidewalk in Bedford-Stuyvesant on Sunday when they were attacked by a passerby, video footage shows.

The video showed the suspect stopping the City bike while passing a group of children on Franklin Street.

The unidentified suspect accused of assaulting two Orthodox Jewish children in New York City has been caught on video arriving at the scene of the crime on a City bicycle. (Williamsburg 365)

The man, believed to be between 18 and 20 years old, approached a group of young people and yelled at them to get off the sidewalk.

The video, first obtained by local media outlet Williamsburg 365 News, shows a man roughly grabbing one of the children and pushing him to the ground.

The suspect is seen approaching one of the children and violently grabbing him as the other children walk away in fear. The suspect allegedly yelled at the children to get off the sidewalk. (Williamsburg 365)

As the rest of the children backed away, the man lunged at nearby children, dragging them to the ground, then repeatedly kicking and punching them as the group dispersed, video shows.

The suspect then returned to his City bicycle and fled the scene on the bicycle. Both victims suffered minor injuries but are reported to be recovering.

“This attack on Orthodox Jewish children is abhorrent,” said Mayor Antonio Reynoso. Local outlet news 12. “Anti-Semitism has no place in Brooklyn. I am grateful that the Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating this attack. My office is monitoring the situation.”

Suspect stomps Jewish children on New York sidewalk

The suspect then grabbed the 11-year-old victim and threw him to the ground, before stomping and punching the child as the rest of the group scattered in fear. He then fled the scene on the same City bicycle he had arrived on. (Williamsburg 365)

The New York City Police Department is investigating the incident.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers program.
