A homeless man who had previously been deported was taken into custody after allegedly stabbing someone on the Charlotte Light Rail. This incident occurred just four months after the tragic murder of Irina Zalutka.
Oscar Solrazano faces multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon causing serious injury, and other offenses. He’s currently being held without bond.
Solrazano, aged 33, reportedly attacked a man on a streetcar in Charlotte, North Carolina, around 5 p.m. Friday, using a large knife, as documented by police.
As an illegal immigrant from Honduras, he allegedly hopped onto a light rail train while intoxicated, provoked the victim into a confrontation, and then stabbed him, leading to significant injuries.
According to police, Solrazano was yelling and exhibited slurred speech at the time.
The victim was taken to Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital. Fortunately, he is now in stable condition despite the serious injuries.
Solrazano’s court documents indicate that his registered address is near The Roof Above homeless shelter.
Tricia Lockwood, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, noted that Solrazano had been deported twice prior and re-entered illegally afterward.
“His past criminal record includes arrests for aggravated assault with a weapon, tampering with evidence, resisting arrest, using false identification, robbery, and illegal re-entry,” she mentioned.

Lockwood also stated, “This individual was given a final removal order by an immigration judge in 2018 and was deported by the Trump administration on March 9, 2018. Again, he was arrested in 2021 for illegal border crossing and deported once more. This marks his third illegal re-entry.”
The news source was unable to verify the complete details of Solrazano’s criminal background.
This latest incident comes on the heels of the horrific murder of Irina Zalutka, a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee, just four months earlier.
Zalutka was killed by a homeless man while trying to find safety after fleeing her hometown due to the war between Russia and Ukraine. DeCarlos Brown Jr., the charged suspect in that case, had a history of arrests and was captured on surveillance footage carrying out the attack.
Brown Jr. has been arrested over 14 times since 2007 in North Carolina on various charges, including assault and robbery.
Following the latest stabbing, former President Trump expressed his concerns about rising violence in Charlotte, suggesting that political leadership is to blame for the situation.
