Yankees player Oswald Cabrera didn’t let an injury stop him from tying the knot. The Venezuelan utility player married his fiancée, Arigonzalez, on Tuesday, as shared in Instagram stories.
At 26, Cabrera had to deal with some challenging circumstances during his wedding. Following a serious left ankle injury he sustained during a game in Seattle on May 12, he was seen wearing walking boots at the ceremony.
During the game, Cabrera had managed to score on a sacrifice fly, but then he stumbled, leading to that significant injury. He had to leave the field in an ambulance. It was later confirmed that he had broken his ankle and underwent surgery on May 18.
Despite the tough situation, the couple seemed to have rushed their relationship forward, announcing their engagement back on March 13.
The wedding had a cozy vibe; Cabrera wore a tan jacket over a white shirt, paired with pants and white loafers on one foot, accessorizing with the walking boots instead of a traditional tie. Gonzalez opted for a lovely thigh-length white dress with sleeves that reached her forearms.
With Cabrera’s recovery expected to keep him off the field for the remainder of the season, they have plenty of time to enjoy their honeymoon together.
Before his injury, Cabrera had played in 34 games across second base, third base, and outfield, achieving 11 RBIs and hitting .243 for the season.
