Our Brains, Common Sense Should Protect Us from Disinformation, Not Censorship

On HBO's “Real Time” broadcast Friday, comedian Larry Wilmore argued that “our brains and common sense should protect us from disinformation and misinformation on social media.” . And I don't understand why people believe what they see on social media in the first place.

Host Bill Maher said he thinks Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg originally supported free speech, but may have now decided to follow his original impulses. Afterward, Wilmore said: And perhaps he's under pressure from people he feels are aligned with him. To be honest, I don't know why people believe anything on Facebook in the first place. I think it should be our brains and common sense that protects us from disinformation and misinformation on social media. That should be fine. ”

Maher jokingly replied, “Well, good luck, Larry.” And Wilmore agreed.
