The Pentagon top official, who was expelled with a dramatic purge earlier this month, criticized Defense Secretary Pete Hegses for his obsession with disclosure to the media.
“I think he consumed a bit of the team because he was very focused on Leaks.” Podcaster Megyn Kelly Hegzes’s in a lengthy interview released on Friday. “If you look at the pie chart for Secretary’s Day, at this point, 50% of that is probably [the] Leak investigation. ”
“That’s bad for America, it’s bad for the president’s purpose,” added Carroll, 40.
Around the same time, former top spokesman John Ulittt parted ways with DOD.
The White House is standing by the Secretary of Defense, and Trump told Atlantic: “I think he’s going to do that together. I spoke with him.
“I… observed Pete crushing it at the meeting,” Carol told Kelly about Hegses’ abilities, adding that the Pentagon chief is pinned to “strange details” and that there are times when it’s easy to “excite.”
“It’s the story of two Pete,” Carol summarized, adding later: “My observations over the first 90 days sound strange. This means there are fewer issues from state officials in the department than we’ve done from some people on our team.”
Last week, a source familiar with the situation told the Post that the shootings of Caldwell, Carol and Sernick were the result of the “Turf War” carried out by Joe Casper, the then head of staff at Hegseth, the Post.
The source told the Post at the time that Caldwell and Selnick were given more Kasper’s portfolio, including appointment recommendations, decisions on high-level official visits, and decisions on official travel plans.
“[Kasper] “He’s a nice guy, but he’s a poor manager,” the source said.
“Joe is a subtle guy because Joe isn’t like a complete idiot,” Carroll told Casper’s Kelly, who accused Carole and Caldwell of trying to do a general investigation into inspectors against him last week.
Kasper said Drop Site News An anonymous complaint has been filed accusing him of illegal drug use that he denied. In Kasper’s narration, Carol was contacted by Politico Reporter’s Daniel Lippman to inquire about the rumored watchdog probe. According to the outlet, Caldwell told Carroll to hand over the enquiries to Sean Parnell, a Pentagon spokesman.
When asked about the controversy, Carol told Kelly, “I…I know how drug users look and act. Joe is very unstable, he’s completely normal in one thing, and then it’s completely unusual.”
Carroll added that he hoped the Pentagon would have investigated the leak more thoroughly.
“I think there’s a car leak,” he admitted. “If there was a path to exoneration, I think we should have been placed on administrative leave and investigated. I would have been totally satisfied with it.”
“We are not unhappy with our former employees,” Carroll emphasized. “I’m literally someone who’s gone down my life and returned to the department [after leaving in 2021]. ”
Hegses told Fox & Friends last week that once the leakage investigation is complete, the Pentagon will provide a referral for charges. Carol calls the interview a “bad move,” suggesting that Hegses is not ready and agreed to a sit-in just to look “military” for the president.
When asked if he would return to the Pentagon, Carroll said the department was suffering from “culture, fear and toxicity that’s really hard to recover,” and was putting Trump’s agenda in danger, including building a “golden dome” missile defense system.
“The idea that there was dysfunction is a convection of convenience, and in hindsight it is weaponized by small groups rallied in their own interests against the president and his secretary,” said Casper in a statement that has achieved success since Trump’s first 90 days, including Trump’s terminology that has supported military recruitment.
“It’s not a dysfunction, it’s a success,” Casper added. “Colin wasn’t part of it. I wish him the best. He’s a clever man with unlimited possibilities.”
The post contacted the Pentagon for comments.
