Democratic Congressman Jamaal Bowman of New York wrote a bizarre message to white people, claiming that Jordan Neely was not a threat to subway riders when he shouted that he would kill them.
Mr Bowman, who lost his re-election bid and was a member of the notorious left-wing parliamentary “Squad”, described the trauma he felt over the Daniel Penny incident in a long thread on social media. The jury deadlocked on the manslaughter charge, which was later dropped, but Penny was later acquitted on the lesser charge.
“Every time you feel uncomfortable being white, a black person is hurt or killed. And there is never accountability or justice.”
“Dear White People, I don’t know why I need to keep talking to you guys. I don’t know why a part of me still has hope in you guys and us. Some of you are far away. But maybe enough is enough.'' Some of you are not and will join us in the fight to end white supremacy. ” he said. I wrote.
He went on to list controversial murders and assaults of Black people, including Rodney King, George Floyd, and Trayvon Martin. It then lands on top of Neely, who is strangled to death by Penny, a US Marine veteran.
“Jordan Neely is the latest. He was sick. He wasn't a threat. He was subdued. He still wasn't a threat. Daniel Penny strangled him for six minutes and killed him. . We all watched it on camera, and he was still innocent.'', “Bowman.'' he claimed.
He went on to say that white people have “never” seen footage of white people being killed in “cold blood” on their news feeds.
“That's never the case. Every time you feel uncomfortable about being white, a black person gets hurt or killed. And there's no accountability, there's no justice. This is the evil of white supremacy. “It spreads beyond and disgusts us all.” continued.
“Rest in peace Jordan Neely. The justice system has failed you. Kyle Lightenhouse.” [sic] and Daniel Penny are free. You're gone. We still have to fight,” he said concluded.
The councilman doesn't seem to think Neely shouted this. Witnesses said they were scared of the man and thanked Penny for intervening. Investigators said Neely had schizophrenia and had been using synthetic marijuana before the incident.
Bowman lost the Democratic primary to a candidate supported by Hillary Clinton because he made criticism of Israel a central part of his campaign.
