Recall of Children’s Squeeze Toys Due to Injury Risks

Federal regulators have announced the recall of over 15,000 children’s squeeze toys due to serious injury hazards tied to contained beads. The recalls affect two specific products: Squeezy Dumplings from GIHNJSI and Rainbow Mystery Squishy Buns from OKK Trading.

Both items include water beads that can expand if ingested, leading to potentially severe risks, including choking and intestinal obstruction. This situation indeed raises alarms, as the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) noted these toys do not meet the necessary federal safety standards due to the oversized potential of the water beads.

“If a water bead is inadvertently swallowed, it creates multiple hazards—ingestion, choking, and blockage—leading to symptoms like severe discomfort, vomiting, dehydration, and in the worst cases, could even be fatal,” the CPSC reported.

About 8,000 of the Squeezy Dumplings are part of this recall. These were sold online at Amazon between May and June, priced around $20, with labels reading “SQUEEZY DUMPLINGS” and “SQUEEZE ME.” Meanwhile, approximately 7,200 Rainbow Mystery Squishy Bun toys, which carried the labels “Rainbow MYSTERY” and “SUGAR EDITION,” were sold in various stores across the country from May to August.

These toys are designed as translucent, round squishy balls with cartoonish faces, glitter-like details, and water beads inside, typically packaged in a tan container resembling a bamboo steamer.

Consumers are strongly advised to stop using both products immediately and reach out to the respective companies for refunds. To facilitate the refund process, the CPSC suggests marking the products as “RECALLED,” disposing of them, and sending a photo to the recalling company.

Thus far, there have been no reported injuries linked to either toy. However, the commission has also cautioned about Squishy Bun Toys from Ivyapingdianpu. These toys also contain water beads and haven’t been recalled or addressed by the retailer, despite receiving a Notice of Violation from the CPSC.

In addition to this, about 106 of the Ivyapingdianpu toys are under scrutiny; they feature the labels “SQUISHY BUN” and “Rainbow MYSTERY” on a removable tag. While these toys were available on Amazon in June 2026, they may have been sold by various third-party sellers on other platforms as well.

As of now, no injuries have been reported concerning these toys either. Parents are urged to contact the CPSC should any injuries or defects arise in relation to the Squishy Buns.
