Trump’s Truth Social Post Stirs Debate
As Valentine’s Day approaches, President Trump surprised many with a lengthy Truth Social post, which, frankly, wasn’t the romantic sentiment people might have anticipated. Instead of a sweet message, he launched into a tirade against Bill Maher, the well-known TV host and comedian, who has often been critical of him.
Trump described Maher as “a hugely overrated lightweight,” adding that Republicans should reconsider using Maher to illustrate how the left targets them.
In his post, Trump recounted an experience he had with Maher, mentioning how they once had dinner, set up by a mutual friend, Kid Rock. He noted that Maher appeared quite anxious and, to calm his nerves, quickly ordered a “vodka tonic.” Trump remarked that Maher said this was a uniquely intimidating situation for him.
Despite the criticisms, Trump reflected that Maher seemed like a decent person at that dinner, but then he shifted gears to boast about his achievements during his second term. He emphasized points like maintaining secure borders, record-low crime rates, and rebuilding the military.
Additionally, Trump took aim at Maher for allegedly misunderstanding his jokes about Canada and China, joking that a deal between the two would end ice hockey in Canada. Maher described Trump’s remarks as “stupid.”
Trump concluded by suggesting that Maher suffers from what he refers to as “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” expressing his frustration with the media’s coverage of him and his administration.
It’s uncertain what exactly triggered Trump’s post or why he chose this timing. It’s worth noting that Maher had recently made humorous remarks about Trump in his own monologue, particularly regarding the Epstein file. He quipped that President’s Day would honor all presidents, even those connected to Epstein.
