Ozzy Osbourne’s family urged a postponement of the BBC documentary.

The BBC disclosed that family members of Ozzy Osbourne requested a delay for a documentary about the iconic Black Sabbath frontman just hours before it was set to air this week.

Titled “Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home,” the documentary was initially slated for a Monday, August 18th release on BBC One but was unexpectedly pulled from the schedule.

The network mentioned that the airing was “moved on schedule,” yet they didn’t clarify the reason until a statement was issued on Tuesday.

“Our thoughts are with the Osbourne family in these trying times,” the BBC stated, adding, “We honor their wish to postpone airing this unique film for a bit longer.”

A new premiere date will be announced shortly, the message said.

This documentary, which started as a 10-part series, focuses on Ozzy’s return to the UK, his last concert on July 5th, and his unexpected passing on July 22nd.

Ultimately, it was reshaped into a one-hour film covering the past three years of Ozzy’s life following his death at the age of 76 last month.

His family revealed his death in a heartfelt statement on the day it occurred.

“It is with a heavy heart that we inform you our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” they shared.

They added, “He was surrounded by his family and love,” while also asking for privacy for family members: Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Amy, and Louis.

After a poignant funeral procession through Birmingham on July 30, his family held a private gathering near a lake at his Buckinghamshire home.

The official autopsy report indicated cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, and Parkinson’s disease as the causes of death.

Ozzy’s eldest son, Amy, aged 41, submitted his father’s death certificate to the London registry, designating him as a “songwriter, performer, and rock legend.”

In the days leading up to his final concert, Ozzy expressed gratitude to his fans, stating, “I just want to say to you on behalf of Black Sabbath and my own guys. Your support has allowed us to enjoy this lifestyle.”

He concluded with, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you. We love you.”

On another note, a biopic detailing the lengthy romance between Ozzy and Sharon is reportedly still under development at Sony Pictures, despite the loss of the “Miracle Man” singer last month.

Back in 2021, Polygram Entertainment teamed up with Osbourne Media to initiate a film about the couple’s legendary relationship.

A representative from Polygram confirmed on August 6th that they are currently negotiating with a director to move the project forward.
