During ESPN’s coverage of Game 1 of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs, PK Saban’s choice of pants became quite the talking point.
The former NHL defenseman, who had stints with the Montreal Canadiens, Nashville Predators, and New Jersey Devils, sported some notably oversized wide-leg pants that set social media abuzz.
Social media personality Rob Gucci remarked, “You could park a Chevrolet Suburban in PK Saban’s pants.” He wasn’t the only one—Barstool Sports Founder Dave Portnoy chimed in with a sarcastic take, suggesting, “Totally normal pants from @PKSubban1. Find a new slant.”
Saban reacted to Portnoy’s comment with humor, responding, “Oh my god, Dave! That’s amazing! You can always borrow it.”
Known for his unique fashion sense, Saban complemented the pants with a simple black long-sleeved shirt.
As the internet buzzed about his outfit, Saban shared a live update during Sunday’s game via Instagram.
The NHL analysts were present for a doubleheader on ESPN, featuring the Boston Bruins against the Buffalo Sabres, alongside the Utah Mammoths versus the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Sabres won against the Bruins with a score of 4-3, while the Knights triumphed over the Mammoths at 4-2 in this first game of the series.
This year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs have plenty of narratives. Notably, Buffalo has made the postseason for the first time since 2011.
For Utah, this marks their first playoff appearance since being added to the NHL in 2024. In contrast, Boston will see its 16th postseason in the last 20 years, while Vegas is making its eighth appearance in nine seasons.
Interestingly, it’s also the first time in NHL history that the Rangers, Islanders, and Devils all missed the playoffs in the same year. Since the Devils joined the league in 1982, at least one of these local teams has participated in every postseason.
