PA Gov. Shapiro Refuses to ‘Name One Policy Difference’ Between Harris, Biden

Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-Pennsylvania) said three times on NBC's “Meet the Press” Sunday that the differences between Democratic presidential candidates Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden are irrelevant.

Host Kristen Welker asked, “Governor, has Vice President Harris done enough to distance herself from President Biden, given that polls show President Biden's unpopularity?” said.

Shapiro said, “You know, Kristen, what's clear is this is not a race between Kamala Harris and Joe Biden, this is a race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, and on that Kamala Harris wants to cut taxes for small businesses, and Donald Trump and his economic policies will raise costs for middle-class families. , I think Donald Trump just wants to throw grenades into everything and cause more chaos. ”

“I understand what the governor is saying, but polls show that more Americans feel President Biden's policies are hurting them rather than helping them,” Welker said. I understand,” he said. So, can you name one key policy difference between Vice President Harris and President Biden? How would her administration be different? ”

Mr. Shapiro said: “I'm really encouraged by Vice President Harris' focus on how to address tax cuts for small businesses. She's focused on extending childcare care education. And I think it's especially important to focus on things like that, and those are the things that Kamala Harris has brought to this race so actively. It’s a kind of thing.”

Welker said, “But those aren't necessarily differences. They're some degree of expansion or adjustment of what's been done before. Can you name one policy difference?”

Shapiro said, “Listen again, the contrast I'm focusing on is that Kristen is between her and Donald Trump, and I think they're clearly different in that respect.”
