Packers’ Jordan Love, Aaron Jones compile big games as Green Bay dominates Dallas in wild-card round

All the Green Bay Packers needed to beat the Dallas Cowboys was a little love and a little Jones.

Jordan Love and Aaron Jones did more than that for the Packers en route to a 48-32 win over the Cowboys in Sunday's NFC Wild Card Game. Love completed three touchdown passes and Jones completed three touchdown passes. Darnell Savage also had a pick-six in the win.

The Packers got off to a hot start with Jones running for his first touchdown with 7:08 left in the first quarter. It looked like the game was going to turn into a slug festival. But after a few stops and a few turnovers, the Packers quickly went up 27-0.

Jones scored his second touchdown early in the second quarter. A 20-yard touchdown pass from Love to Dontaevion Wicks followed. Savage then returned a Dak Prescott interception 64 yards for a touchdown.

Dallas got into the end zone on a touchdown pass from Prescott to Jake Ferguson, cutting the lead to 20 points before the end of the first half.

Jones and Love were on tears in the second half as well. Jones completed his third touchdown pass with 6:38 left in the third, and Love found a wide-open Luke Musgrave with 1:27 left to complete his second touchdown pass. went for a 38-yard score. Love threw his third touchdown pass to Romeo Dubs in the fourth.

Love completed 16 of 21 for 272 passing yards. Jones ran for 118 yards.

Douce led all receivers with six catches for 151 yards. Musgrave had three catches for 52 yards. Wicks had two catches for 25 yards.

Dallas did its best to get back into the game. Prescott threw two more touchdown passes to Ferguson, but they were too late.

Prescott had 403 passing yards, three touchdown passes, and two interceptions. Tony Pollard ran for 52 yards and one touchdown. Ferguson had 10 catches for 93 yards. CeeDee Lamb had 9 catches on her 18 targets and gained 110 yards.

The Cowboys hadn't lost a home game since Sept. 11, 2022, when they faced Tom Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team finished the year with a top-5 defense, ranked first in points allowed, fifth in yards allowed, and emerged as a championship favorite.

The team fumbled from the start and could never get things going in the right direction. Prescott's interception of Jaire Alexander set up Jones for a touchdown to make it 14-0, but the team quickly lost wind.

Dallas has not advanced to the conference championship every season since 1995. It was also the last time Dallas won a Super Bowl.

Green Bay, which finished 9-8 and made the playoffs, was the first team without Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers to play in the quarters since Lynn Dickey led the team to a 41-16 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in 1983. He's won playoff games with Buck.

The Packers became the first No. 7 seed to win a game since the playoffs were expanded to include seven teams from each conference four years ago. They next departed to face the San Francisco 49ers in the regional round.
