Packers release Trevon Diggs after only two games

Trevon Diggs is on the lookout for a new team.

The former Pro Bowl cornerback was let go by the Packers on Tuesday after only participating in two games. This marks the second time in less than a month that Diggs has been waived by them.

Initially, Diggs was picked up by Green Bay after being waived by the Cowboys.

In the Packers’ last regular-season game against the Vikings, Diggs played a key role but only appeared for a single snap in their wild-card loss to the Bears.

Reports indicated that the Packers might consider bringing him back due to their cornerback shortage, though his current contract didn’t meet their expectations.

Diggs was signed by the Cowboys to a hefty five-year, $97 million deal in 2023, which included a base salary of $14.5 million for the upcoming season.

However, since there was no guaranteed money remaining on his contract, the Packers could release him without it impacting their salary cap.

When he joined the team earlier this month, he expressed his excitement, referring to the opportunity as a “blessing.” “Winning in this league is tough, making the playoffs is tough, so just being here and reaching the playoffs is something I’m really grateful for,” he shared with reporters.

He felt a connection with the Packers, remarking that it seemed like a “natural” fit. “It just feels right. I think it works well. I’m truly happy to be here,” Diggs stated.

In 2025, he played eight games for the Cowboys but dealt with injuries, including a concussion and a knee issue.

The decision to cut Diggs, according to various reports, was multifaceted, involving performance and other considerations—there wasn’t just one reason behind it.
