She wrote to X that she was a little nervous about competing again in a stroke-play competition after not playing in about eight years — her “goal is to have fun,” she said — but that she might find herself at the top of the leaderboard in some category by the end of the round.
“I might win more than I lose in golf balls but that's it lol,” she wrote to X on Monday.
Spiranac posted on social media earlier this year that she was falling in love with golf again and was outspoken last year about her quest to earn an LPGA tour card.

“After college, I played professionally for one year,” she wrote on Instagram, “ranked highly as a junior golfer. Went to a D1 university on a full scholarship and was named first and second team all-conference. Won one professional win on a mini-tour, qualified for the Scottish Open, and won all but two tournaments that year.”
“I never made it on the LPGA. No one realizes how much work it takes to play professional golf. It's hard mentally, physically and financially.”
Spiranac was on the San Diego State team when it won the Mountain West Conference Championship and won a Cactus Tour event.
