Pakistani PM to put forward Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize once more

Pakistani PM to nominate Trump for Nobel Peace Prize — again

On Monday, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared his intention to nominate President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize due to his involvement in facilitating a historic ceasefire and hostage deal between Hamas and Israel.

This nomination isn’t the first time this year that Islamabad has put forward a U.S. president for the esteemed award. Back in June, the country had nominated Trump for helping reach a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

“Pakistan, in collaboration with a remarkable team, has put forth President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, recognizing his extraordinary contribution in halting the conflict and achieving a ceasefire between India and Pakistan,” Sharif remarked during a speech next to Trump in Sharm el-Sheikh, where global leaders congregated to finalize agreements related to the peace process in Gaza.

He further stated, “Today, I want to nominate this great president again for the Nobel Peace Prize. Not only has he forged peace in South Asia, but he has also saved countless lives. I genuinely believe he is the most deserving candidate for this honor. By achieving peace in Gaza, we’re also saving millions in the Middle East.”

President Trump introduced various world leaders present at the ceremony in Egypt, including Sharif, who he encouraged to share a previous comment, remarking, “That was very nice.”

Sharif emphasized the significance of the day, stating, “Today marks a pivotal moment in modern history, as peace has been realized through relentless efforts. President Trump is genuinely a man of peace, and his dedication over the past few months has led us here,” after he received the microphone from Trump.

Upon announcing his Nobel nomination plan, Sharif also offered a salute to the president.

He praised Trump, saying, “Mr. President, I want to acknowledge your exemplary vision and leadership. You are precisely the figure this world needs right now. History will remember you as someone who has tirelessly worked to end multiple wars.”

During his introduction of world leaders, Trump seemed to take a jab at Norway, following the recent decision of the Nobel Committee not to award the Peace Prize to him last week. “Oh, Norway, we achieved it, we did it,” he quipped, inquiring, “What happened?”

Last week, the Nobel Committee granted the Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Colina Machado, a choice that did not sit well with many of Trump’s supporters.

Additionally, Israeli leaders mentioned on Monday their intention to appoint Trump in 2026 for his part in the Gaza peace negotiations, which are still in the initial stages. Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) had formally nominated Trump for the award last Wednesday concerning the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
