Correction from MSNBC’s Morning Joe
MSNBC’s Morning Joe made an on-air correction after Middle Eastern correspondent Matt Bradley mistakenly reported that a Palestinian was killed in Gaza while waiting for help from the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).
On Thursday, Bradley discussed a video report about the GHF, which has been in the spotlight for its role in providing food aid in Gaza, distributing around 20 million meals daily. This scrutiny follows skepticism from both the United Nations and Hamas regarding the GHF’s operations and legitimacy.
Bradley’s initial report echoed recurring accusations that the GHF poses a threat to Palestinians, but went further in making unfounded claims.
He stated, “We see a huge number of casualties every day. In fact, many people were killed, and this attracted significant criticism, with claims that aid was being distributed through U.S.-backed organizations.”
However, as noted by Breitbart News, these reports were inaccurate. There were no injuries or fatalities linked to GHF aid distribution. Opponents of the GHF, including Hamas, have spread misinformation to challenge the organization’s credibility. Mainstream media often echoed these claims, only to retract them later.
In at least one instance, Hamas has reportedly attacked Palestinians attempting to reach GHF aid sites for assistance.
On Friday, Bradley issued a clarification, stating, “We reported about 60 people were fatally shot while waiting for food in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday. It’s important to clarify that they were waiting for supplies from a UN convoy, not from the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.”
The GHF noted that the attack involved a UN transport/distribution site, a claim confirmed by the United Nations.
While Israel has not directly attacked Palestinians seeking help, it has maintained approved access routes and has fired warning shots at those perceived as approaching Israeli soldiers.
