Palisades Village Set for Remarkable Comeback
Palisades Village is poised for a noteworthy return, with Errejon announcing the revival of the upscale grocery store at the Rick Caruso mall, which first opened in January.
The Village plans to fully reopen this August, marking the completion of a significant $60 million revitalization effort. This is a huge step forward since the devastating bushfires in January 2025 that impacted the affluent coastal community.
The grocery store is set to be the first market to return as Palisades Village reintroduces both old and new retailers for the first time in nearly 19 months. The company has indicated that January is the targeted opening for these stores.
Although thousands of buildings were lost in the catastrophic fires, Palisades Village was notably protected, thanks to Caruso’s privately funded firefighting initiative.
While the area avoided major structural damage, some remnants of the disaster still linger. The village has been closed for comprehensive environmental cleanup, deep cleaning, and necessary upgrades.
Interestingly, Erewhon was not destroyed, but it is undergoing a complete redesign, including a spacious new outdoor dining area.
The reopening will feature a blend of familiar retailers and newcomers. For instance, Elise Walker, a high-end fashion brand, is set to return to the neighborhood with a fresh store in the Village after their previous location was affected by the fires.
Returning tenants also include brands like Page, Buck Mason, Jennifer Meyer, and others. In addition, Caruso has spent the past year attracting new clothing labels and other businesses, such as the cosmetics store Violet Grey, to breathe new life into the shopping center.
Food enthusiasts can look forward to dining at places like Angelini’s, Blue Ribbon Sushi, and Spacca Tutto, an Italian steakhouse by Nancy Silverton, which is scheduled to open in August.
Ultimately, 46 businesses are expected to be operational in Palisades Village.
“We’ve developed a plan to assist retailers in various ways,” Caruso mentioned, emphasizing that while all tenants are paying rent, there are special provisions for independents and emerging entrepreneurs.
He anticipates that the area will be ready for occupancy by August 1, with businesses opening by mid-August.
