Pam Bondi Responds Playfully to Amy Poehler’s SNL Parody
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi had a lighthearted reaction to a parody of her performed by actress Amy Poehler on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.”
Poehler, who hosted the latest episode, humorously mimicked Bondi outside in the cold while referencing last week’s Senate Judiciary Committee oversight hearing.
In her skit, Poehler introduced herself as Bondi, joking, “My name is Pam Bondi, and I’m not going to answer any of your questions, so I’m going to spell it with an ‘i.’ My time is valuable. The Department of Justice has a lot of ongoing work, and we’re moving very quickly in multiple directions at once, like Kash Patel’s centerpiece.”
During the segment, Poehler was accompanied by former “SNL” cast member Tina Fey, who portrayed Kristi Noem, the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, holding an AR-15 rifle.
Fey’s character stated, “Yes, it’s me, Kristi Noem. I put an ‘i’ in my name because that’s how I thought it was spelled. And I’m the most unusual type of person in Washington, D.C.: the brunette that Donald Trump listens to.”
Despite the criticism surrounding Bondi’s performance at the hearing, she seemed to appreciate the parody the following morning. She playfully suggested to Noem, “Should we recreate this photo in Chicago? Dear Amy Poehler!” in a post.
In a tongue-in-cheek response to the performance, Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin remarked, “SNL is absolutely right. The Democratic shutdown really needs to end!”
The iconic sketch comedy show, known for poking fun at President Donald Trump and his administration, hasn’t always received the best response from Trump himself. Interestingly, during the 51st season premiere, there was surprisingly little focus on the president, even with cast member James Austin Johnson parodying him.
In response to the SNL episode, White House press secretary Abigail Jackson dismissed it as a waste of time, saying, “To react to this, you have to waste time looking at it. And like millions of Americans who no longer watch SNL, I have more fun things to do, like watch paint dry.”
