Incident Outside D.C. Jewish Museum
On Thursday, Attorney General Pam Bondy described the harrowing scene outside the D.C. Jewish Museum, where a young couple was tragically shot. The victims, Jaron Lisinsky and Sarah Milgrim, members of the Israeli Embassy staff, were killed when 31-year-old Elias Rodriguez opened fire on a group of people leaving an event at the museum. Bondy, who witnessed one of the victims being carried away, pledged on Fox News’ “American Newsroom” that the suspect will face the most severe legal consequences.
“It was horrifying. I was there last night with our US lawyer, Janine Piro, who is overseeing this case… it’s still under investigation. All I can say is that the shooting was completely unnecessary. I saw his body taken from the scene. This individual will be charged to the fullest extent of the law,” Bondy remarked.
While the investigation unfolds, Bondy assured the public that safety is a priority and emphasized that violence must come to an end. Although she couldn’t confirm if Rodriguez was cooperating with authorities, she mentioned that the Metro Police Department was closely collaborating with federal agents.
Witnesses said that Rodriguez had been acting strangely outside the museum before he suddenly fired a handgun at a group of four individuals. Reports indicate he shouted “free Palestine” during his arrest, suggesting a possible motive for the attack.
Yechiel Leiter, the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, revealed he had planned to propose to Milgrim, describing her as someone with a bright future ahead. “They had their whole lives ahead of them, and now all that is lost. We must ensure justice is served, especially under [President] Donald Trump,” Bondy stated.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the event “shocking and terrifying.” They expressed their deep sorrow over the “brutal terrorist attack” that took the lives of Lisinsky and Milgrim.
President Donald Trump remarked on the issue of hate and racism in America, stating, “These terrifying murders in D.C., which are clearly rooted in anti-Semitism, must come to an end. Hatred and extremism cannot be tolerated, especially for the sake of the victims’ families.”
