Paramount Secures UFC Streaming Deal

August 11, 2025 – Paramount will become the exclusive streaming home for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in the U.S. under a significant seven-year deal worth around $7.7 billion. This marks a strategic step for the newly merged media entity, now led by CEO David Ellison.

Beginning next year, Paramount+ will feature all 13 numbered UFC events and 30 Fight Nights in the U.S. Additionally, some numbered cards will be simulcast on CBS, as announced on Monday.

This agreement aligns with Ellison’s focus on enhancing investments in exclusive content, which he believes is crucial for subscriber growth.

As more people opt for streaming services, live sports rights have become central to media strategies. Competitors like Netflix and Disney are also pursuing similar deals to bolster their content offerings.

For instance, Netflix has secured a $5 billion global deal for WWE Raw, starting in 2025, and two NFL games on Christmas Day. Meanwhile, Disney has extended its rights with leagues including the NFL and NHL and is planning a joint sports streaming venture with Warner Bros Discovery and Fox.

Ellison expressed enthusiasm about bringing UFC’s extensive lineup of events to Paramount’s platforms, calling it a significant achievement for the company.

The deal entails an annual payment of approximately $1.1 billion, incorporating events at no extra cost for subscribers, departing from the earlier pay-per-view structure. Paramount is also contemplating bidding for UFC rights in additional markets as they become available.

The UFC hosts around 43 live events each year, appealing to nearly 100 million fans in the U.S. and reaching about 950 million households worldwide. This includes high-profile events such as UFC 300, along with weekly Fight Nights and shows like “The Ultimate Fighter.”

Previously, Paramount Global and Skydance Media completed an $8.4 billion merger, appointing Ellison as CEO amid a lengthy and scrutinized process.
