Parents arrested after infant and brother discovered with bruises, bug bites, and no running water in distressing home: 'Terrible odor'

Parents Arrested for Horrific Living Conditions in Pennsylvania

Authorities in Pennsylvania arrested two parents after their young children, one of whom is an infant, were discovered living in deplorable conditions. The house was infested with a terrible smell, lacking running water, and filled with piles of waste and trash.

FBI agents executed a search warrant at the Northeast Philadelphia home of Thomas Bach, 43, and Megan Bach, 44. The couple is also accused of making terroristic threats towards the White House, which led to the uncovering of the appalling living situation.

The children, aged 5 years and 8 months, showed signs of distress, including insect bites and bruises. They were taken to a nearby hospital for care. In addition to the children, authorities removed a staggering 38 cats and one dog from the property, with more animals potentially needing rescue in the coming days, as reported by the Pennsylvania SPCA.

Local media indicate that it may take several days to fully address the situation with the remaining cats in the area. A hazardous materials team was deployed after the smell from the house raised alarm, and team members were seen entering while wearing protective gear.

Authorities also collected a large number of firearms and boxes filled with evidence from the distressed property.

Bex Holmquist, a neighbor, shared her concerns, noting the persistent foul odor emanating from the house. “Every time I walked by, there was a stench of kitty litter and everything; it was a terrible stench that you could smell from across the street,” she remarked. Holmquist mentioned seeing children occasionally playing outside but hadn’t actually seen the parents around.

As a result of this incident, the Bachs now face several serious charges, including endangering the welfare of a child, recklessly endangering another person, and possession of weapons intended for harm.

Currently, the children have been placed in the care of the Department of Human Services while local and federal authorities continue their investigation. There has been no immediate response from the Philadelphia Police or the local FBI regarding the suspected terrorist threat made by the Bachs.
