A 14-year-old boy has been handed over to his parents for his alleged involvement in a carjacking in Jackson, Mississippi, in May that left a local family traumatized after a video of the incident went viral, police said.
The boy’s parents took him to the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday after seeing media reports. A horrific crimeIn the incident, an armed carjacker shot and threatened a woman and her adult children and grandchildren in the driveway of her home.
Doorbell camera footage showed Heather Allen and one of her sons jumping to protect themselves from the bullets, as the suspects dragged her daughter from the driver’s seat of the sedan and pointed the gun at her other son.
Allen’s two young grandchildren had to be rescued from the back seat before the vicious thugs took the car and fled, abandoning it just two blocks away.
Officers arrested the juvenile and transported him to the Jackson Police Department (JPD), WJTV report.
The 14-year-old boy was later charged with armed vehicle robbery and six counts of aggravated assault.
JPD continues to search for the second suspect.
Allen said he only moved to the area three months ago and now he wants to get out.
“We can’t sleep. My eldest son is very anxious and scared. My daughter is in shock, but the family is safe,” her grandmother said. Said Wap.
“We can’t stay here anymore,” she added.
