Parents Arrested After Infants Found with Rat Bites
A couple from South Carolina has been taken into custody following disturbing reports regarding their six-month-old daughter, who was discovered covered in blood while in her crib.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about the situation at a residence on D and M Drive, where they learned about the condition of the infant.
During the investigation, the parents acknowledged a long-term issue with field rats in the home but continued to reside there with their children.
Upon examination, deputies discovered bite marks on the infant’s arms, head, face, and ears. She was immediately transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Further questioning revealed additional bite marks on her twin brother’s legs. The couple admitted to the ongoing rat problem, yet they remained in the residence with their children.
In response to the situation, the state has taken control of the three children.
Both parents, aged 24, have been charged with multiple counts of child endangerment.
The infant will remain in the hospital for several days, although her exact condition has not been disclosed.
