Passenger Ejected from F-15D Eagle Before Takeoff
A recent incident occurred at Burns Air National Guard Base in Westfield, Massachusetts, where a passenger was ejected from an F-15D Eagle flight just before takeoff. This event involved the 104th Fighter Wing, and video footage showcases the moments leading up to the ejection, as reported by Air Force Times.
The passenger, identified as a recruiting officer, was part of what are referred to as incentive flights—programs designed to reward service members. In the footage, the aircraft can be seen mishandling the flight line before the incident unfolded.
More videos capture the moment of the ejection prior to takeoff. Viewers can see passengers parachuting down to the ground immediately after being removed from the aircraft.
A report mentions that during this event, a ground accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon. This prompted a 36-hour operational safety notice for all flights, which has since concluded. Fortunately, while no injuries from the ejection were reported, one service member was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
According to additional recordings, traffic control issued calls about a “ground emergency” following the ejection, requesting that the runway be shut down. In a separate incident, the Associated Press noted that members of a US Navy jet were also ejected earlier this year and subsequently picked up by a fishing vessel and handed over to customs and border protection personnel.
The 104th Fighter Wing, as outlined on its website, plays a role in supporting humanitarian and combat operations globally. They are tasked with providing combat units and qualified personnel to ensure preparedness for various missions.
