Pastor Credits ‘Miracle of God’ After Gunman’s Weapon Jams During Sermon

A Pennsylvania pastor who was nearly shot to death by a gunman while preaching on Sunday credits a miracle from God for saving his life.

Pastor Glenn German of Jesus’ Dwelling Place Church in North Braddock, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh, was preaching on Sunday when a man walked into the center aisle and was standing just a few feet away. He pointed the gun at German. The man tried to fire, but the gun did not fire.

Within seconds, Butler ran up behind the gunman and tackled him to the ground. Germany then assisted Deacon in subduing the men. A video of the incident went viral on social media. The service was live-streamed.

“I didn’t have time to think at that point,” Germany told ABC. Good morning, America. “That was all. reaction. I ducked and tried to get out of the way. ”

The Germans had never seen this man before, he said. His sermon that day was about “enemies of God.”

“He pulled the trigger and by some miracle the gun jammed. Germany said. “That bullet had a name.”

The heroic butler was Clarence McAllister.

“I jumped up and pulled his arm down to the side, trapping him. Mr McAllister said: Good morning, America.

“If I had seen it, I would have thought it was a heroic act,” the German said.

Police identified the gunman as Bernard Polite. When police searched his home, they found the body of a 56-year-old man. mortally injuredABC reported. Police later identified the body as that of Bernard Polite’s cousin, Derek Polite, and charged him with murder. He used the same gun in both incidents. WTAE report.

“We believe the shooting of Derek Polite occurred at approximately 10 a.m. prior to the incident at the church later that afternoon,” said Allegheny Police Superintendent Christopher Kearns.

Germany told WTAE that the gunman told him he was hearing voices in his head.

“I said, ‘What made you do that?’ I mean, ‘What were you thinking?’ And he said, ‘I don’t know, it’s just a thought in my head. It’s just, whatever thoughts come into your head, you do what those thoughts say,” Germany said.
