The last moments of a pastor's life were captured on video recorded by the child of a murdered man in Las Vegas. A new lawsuit accuses a neighbor of killing a pastor and shooting his wife after an HOA dispute.
Nick Davie, 46, pastor of Grace Point Church in North Las Vegas, was gunned down in front of his townhouse in the gated Aliante Court community in Nevada.
Davey, his wife, and two children were planning to leave their home on December 29, 2023. As they were about to leave, Joe Junio, who lived next door, allegedly parked his car in the Davey family's driveway.
“Why don't you just leave us alone? We've had enough,” a family member yelled at Junio, according to a video taken by one of Davey's children who was sitting in the car.
The pastor reportedly asked Junio, “What's wrong with us?”
When he got out of his car and approached Junio's car, the neighbor shot Junio, police said. Then an armed neighbor shot and killed the pastor's wife, Sarah Davi.
Sarah survived the shooting. However, Nick was shot dead in front of his 12 and 15 year old children.
Ty Neal, a fellow pastor at Grace Point Church, said: KVVU-TV “Your mind can't process it,” he said of the tragic shooting.
Junio, 36, was arrested the same day as the shooting.she was Paid Open murder with a deadly weapon, attempted murder, assault, child abuse/neglect, discharging a firearm/weapon where a person may be in danger.
Junio is being held in the Clark County Detention Center on $300,000 bail.
The pastor's widow filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Junio on January 19, and Sarah Davey is seeking unspecified damages.
The lawsuit accuses Junio of terrorizing the family for weeks before fatally shooting the pastor in their driveway.
The family reportedly filed a complaint with the local homeowners association about Junio keeping chickens and dogs around the property.
However, after the family filed a complaint with the HOA, Junio exhibited “escalating threatening behavior.” KLAS-TV report. The family is said to have called police twice in December regarding Junio's behavior.
Junio reportedly threw a rock at the family's garden. Police said she “swiped her fingers across her throat in a motion that appeared to be cutting her throat and told them they were next.”
of Las Vegas Review Journal According to the report, “She is also suspected of flooding the home of Nicholas and Sara Davi by throwing large amounts of dog feces.According to police, the couple filed a restraining order and left the house. He was sleeping elsewhere before the murder.”
Junio — Licensed by the Nevada Department of Real Estate — reportedly Posted article Her Facebook post is titled “Avoiding the Nightmare Neighbors When Buying a Home.'' A Realty Times article describes “nightmare neighbors” as people who “complain if the trash can isn't out five minutes after picking up trash” and “people who complain when their dog sniffs the lawn.” He is described as someone who complains. The article states that nightmare neighbors “should be avoided at all costs.”
Regarding the HOA's role in the shooting, the complaint states, “The homeowners association knew that as a result of the ongoing association dispute, the defendants were likely to commit acts of violence against the deceased and the plaintiffs. Or I should have known.”
The lawsuit also alleges Junio did not have a license or permit to own a firearm and borrowed the gun from someone else.
Junio is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on March 4.
