Trump Appears on Pat McAfee’s Show Amid Controversy

President Donald Trump made an appearance on Pat McAfee’s ESPN show on Tuesday, but not everyone was thrilled about it.

Just days before, McAfee announced that Trump would be attending the game between the Washington Commanders and the Detroit Lions. The show was aired live from Parris Island in honor of Veterans Day, where Trump spoke for about 20 minutes. He touched on various topics, including those who served the country, the government shutdown, college football, and, interestingly enough, his feelings about NFL kickoffs.

Although the show was streamed live on YouTube, reactions to Trump’s presence were mixed. Many comments criticized both him and McAfee for hosting the former president. However, once Trump concluded the segment, McAfee defended his choice. He expressed, “To those who are upset: It’s the president of the United States. Today is Veterans Day. He’s the commander in chief. Of course, I’ll speak with him if I can. Plus, he’s funny!”

McAfee also mentioned that they had reached out to former President Barack Obama for an interview, but scheduling conflicts prevented his participation.

This interview adds to a series of sports-related events during Trump’s presidency. Recently, he attended the Lions’ win near Washington, marking his first NFL event this season. Just the previous month, he had also participated in the Ryder Cup and attended the U.S. Open final, alongside the New York Yankees’ game, which was notably their first since the 9/11 attacks.

In addition to this, Trump’s attendance at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, which the Philadelphia Eagles won, and his involvement in various UFC events, adds to a busy sports calendar for the former president.
