FBI Director Kash Patel Discusses Restoring Trust

During an appearance on “My View with Lara Trump,” FBI Director Kash Patel emphasized his commitment to bringing “accountability and transparency” back to the FBI. He mentioned that the investigation into former FBI Director James Comey “is not over yet.”

Trump pointed out that before his appointment, Patel was openly critical of actions taken by the previous administration, especially concerning the alleged political misuse of the FBI. She inquired about the steps he has taken and others he plans to implement to rebuild American trust in the FBI.

“From a credibility standpoint, looking back at Russiagate, I was the lead investigator on Capitol Hill, revealing the abuses and the weaponization of FISA, along with the FBI’s misleading secret courts to surveil political adversaries,” Patel replied. “This was facilitated by information that they, well, fabricated from abroad. To restore public confidence, we must ensure such occurrences never happen again. That’s the first step.”

Patel elaborated on his ongoing plan, highlighting the need for increased oversight and investigations into corruption. “What we are doing, particularly based on our understanding of what transpired during Russiagate, involves two parallel actions: Congressional oversight and accountability. I’m fully committed to this oversight,” he stated. In the past nine months, his team had submitted over 40,000 pages to Congress, significantly more than what previous directors managed.

He even revealed a startling discovery of a hidden room at FBI headquarters that contained evidence related to the Russiagate investigation, which might have been destroyed if they hadn’t found it in time.

Moving forward, Patel mentioned the establishment of two separate units dedicated to investigating the Russiagate scandal and another inquiry involving the Biden administration and accusations of political interference. He claimed that they have initiated a grand jury process, issuing numerous subpoenas for witnesses as part of their investigations.

When asked by Trump about expectations from these investigations, Patel said, “I want to remind the public about those who’ve politicized justice and intelligence. They spent a decade creating this environment, whereas we’ve only been in charge for nine months, showing, among other things, how they illegally monitored Congress members.” He concluded by stating that some individuals involved are attempting to hinder these investigations.

In recent discussions, Trump officials reiterated plans to pursue criminal charges against Comey after a prior dismissal of the case on procedural grounds. Patel added that the FBI and Justice Department are actively looking for ways to keep the case alive, despite recent legal setbacks.
