In an interview clip scheduled to broadcast Thursday, Patrick Clancy, the former husband of Lindsay Clancy, shared that he frequently communicates with his three deceased children, seeking their assistance in coping with his grief.
“I talk to them,” he told CBS correspondent Ross Douthat during his first public comments since the mistrial concerning the murder of their children.
When asked what he conveys to them, he replied simply, “‘Help me.’ All the time.”
Lindsay Clancy, who used to work as a delivery nurse, confessed to strangling their children—Cora, aged 5; Dawson, 3; and eight-month-old Callan—in their Duxbury, Massachusetts home back in January 2023.
The highly publicized trial concluded with an 11-1 deadlock after one juror refused to support her acquittal.
Clancy’s defense argued that while she admitted to the murders, she was experiencing postpartum psychosis, making her unable to take full responsibility for her actions.
The jury spent over 38 hours deliberating across a week before informing Plymouth Judge William Sullivan that they could not come to a unanimous decision.
Following the trial, Patrick, now 38 and remarried living in New York, has faced numerous threats and misinformation campaigns, with various influencers blaming him for the tragic events.
“Over recent months, Patrick Clancy and his family have encountered a relentless defamation campaign,” his lawyer, Howard Cooper, disclosed to Boston 25 News.
He went on to say that this misleading campaign is being propagated by minor celebrities and conspiracy theorists looking to boost their social media profiles through falsehoods that implicate Patrick in his children’s deaths.
Cooper hinted that they might pursue legal action against those spreading these damaging lies.
During his testimony, Patrick depicted Lindsay as a caring mother, recalling how she would create songs for the children and prepare special meals like green eggs and ham.
The complete interview is expected to air in full on Sunday night during “60 Minutes.”
