Travis Kelce Signs Contract with Chiefs
On Monday, Travis Kelce officially signed a new deal with the Chiefs, and his teammate Patrick Mahomes made sure to be part of the moment. During a video released by the Chiefs, Mahomes appeared via FaceTime while Kelce was signing the contract.
In a brief recording, Mahomes cheerfully congratulated Kelce. “Congratulations,” he said. Then, in a lighthearted moment, he added, “Grow a beard, home sweet home,” as they chatted.
Mahomes continued, “I just wanted to call to say congratulations. I know something terrible is going to happen.” This hint of playful banter added a personal touch to the occasion.
The Chiefs confirmed the contract but didn’t disclose specific details. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that it’s a three-year deal worth $54,735,000, potentially rising to $57,735,000. In the first year, Kelce will earn $12 million, along with an extra $3 million in incentives.
This announcement came after months of speculation about whether Kelce would continue playing or retire. In a team video, he expressed his excitement about returning to 1 Arrowhead Drive, cheerfully stating, “home sweet home.”
During the conversation, Kelce expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming season, highlighting the coaching staff’s efforts. “I think so,” he said, affirming the team’s direction. “These are exciting times, and I’m ready to get back in a Chiefs uniform.”
Kelce, who is engaged to pop superstar Taylor Swift, had a solid season last year, racking up 851 receiving yards and five touchdowns. The 2026 season marks his 14th year in the NFL, all spent with the Chiefs.
